DVS VIDEO “WOOD” WINS BEST EDITING
This last week my second skate and create video “Wood” directed and edited by Colin Kennedy won best editing at the Los Angeles Skate Film Festival. Congratulations Colin, you deserve it.
MEGA RAMP
I spent today out at Woodward skate camp with director Jacob Rosenberg shooting the grand opening of their new mega ramp. Danny Way, Bob Burnquist and skate legend Christian Hosoi were there to take part in the festivities. Due to behind behind the camera all day, I only have this little Iphone video to give you a taste of the magnitude of the mega ramp, definitely something not to be messed with or taken lightly.
LAKIA WINS SKATE AND CREATE 2010
Tonight I headed down to Transworld in Carlsbad to the premier and revealing of this years skate and create winner. It was rad to see what Adidas, Fallen and Etnies did with the same ramps and warehouse, truely all unique in their own way. Thanks to all the Lakai skate team, Ty Evans and Kelly Bird for another chance to combine cinematography with some of the best skating I’ve ever seen.
LAKIA VIDEO IN OCTOBER’S ISSUE OF AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER
Right after we wrapped the Lakai skate and create I sent an email to American Cinematographer magazine asking them to consider doing a write up on the shoot. It’s been a dream of mine to have something I’ve shot in AC magazine and this next month it will come true! Please check out Iain Stasukevich’s article next month in the short takes section.
GOT HITCHED
Today I got married to Katherine Jazyk at the green parrot in Santa Ana. We had a great time and are both so thankful for all of our friends and family who joined us on the special day.
3D UNIVERSITY
I spent the day at Disney studios learning all about 3D, well maybe not all about but as much as my brain could absorb in 10 hrs. I’m still on the fence with how many movies are being shot in 3D but one thing is for certain, 3D isn’t going away any time soon so I better educated myself on the process of shooting it asap.
TECH DECK COMMERCIAL
Cinematographer Jeff Venditti asked me to shoot second unit on a Tech Decks commercial, aka get back on the skateboard only a few months after my achilles tendon rupture. It was a bit nerve racking stepping back on the board but I had a blast being a part of the two day shoot.
Cymphonique
I spent two days with rapper Master P and his daughter cymphonique shooting a little epk of her recording a new song for her debut album. I knew industry professionals could work fast but never did I expect to see a song go from some words scribbled down on paper to a polished pop song in a little more than a day. Guess it helps to have a Rodney Jerkins aka Britney Spears’ producer helping out.
SKATE AND CREATE YEAR 3
This week I was stoked to be asked to represent skate shoe company Lakai in this year’s Transworld skate and create. Director Ty Evans and I set out to create a post apocalyptic “Warriors- esque” world including Molotov cocktails and a wrecked car. The contest is normally 9 days long but due to budget and fire marshal limitations we crammed it all in 4 days. Here are some behind the scenes shots for you to enjoy.
DOWN AND OUT
A news section’s purpose is to keep everyone updated no matter if it’s work related or not right, RIGHT? Well, after returning home from San Francisco with Jacob Rosenberg I decided to do a little skateboarding of my own. After 20 years of skating my body said enough right in the middle of pushing. That’s right, your run of the mill push snapped my left achilles tendon. It looks like I have a bunch of sitting on my butt and playing video games in my near future.
WAITING FOR LIGHTNING DOCUMENTARY
Today I had the privilege of working with director Jacob Rosenberg on his feature length documentary on mega ramp skateboarder Danny Way. Jacob has been waiting for over two years to start making this doc, so I’m excited to see his hard work coming to fruition.

This week I ran around with my 5D shooting second unit for several short films directed by Santino Stoner and produced by Stephen Buchanan.
DVS COMMERCIAL AT CHANNEL STREET PARK
Today Colin Kennedy, Bucky Fukumoto and I finished another commerical for DVS shoes staring Daewon Song and Robbie Russo. The commercial hasn’t come out yet so I can’t post any detailed photos but let’s just say Daewon can now add camera operator to his portfolio.
FUEL TV “MOBIUS TRICKS” COMMERCIAL
Director’s Colin Kennedy and Bucky Fukumoto once again take the ordinary skate commercial to the next level, or should I say levels? Taken from the idea of the Mobius strip, this commercial may require repeat viewing to catch all the intricate layers. NOW PART OF THE ICG
After 6 months of pulling teeth I’m now officially on the industry experience roster as a director of photography. Now all I have to do is come up with over 12,000.00 for the initiation fee and work 600 hours of union work to qualify for health insurance, what a deal.
Cage the Elephant (RED)
This last Monday director Isaac Rentz, producer Steve Buchanan, production designer Andrew Baird and me created some unsual images for artist “Cage the Elephant”. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
Sweethead (RED)
Friday I shot a music video for the band Sweethead with Adam Neustadter. Little did I know I was in for a 21 hour day, but I think we came up with some fun visuals.
White Tie Affair
Today I finished shooting W.T.A’s new music video for their song “Take it home”. The director Adam Neustadter and I had a good time watching the band destroy a winnebago as they made their way to the vann warp tour.
“Kelsey”
Josh Forbes and I just finished the latest Metro Station video “Kelsey”. The count so far: Josh = 4 , Marc = 3. Metro is going to have to come out with a new album so we have more songs to shoot videos for:)
Tyler mount
My buddy Kevin Willson asked me to jump into a helicopter to operate a Tyler mount for an opening credit scene for a new feature film. We spent about 8 hours filming a few thousand sail boats in the Newport to Ensenada race. Thanks Kev:)
Scate and Create II
I just finished shooting for 9 days with DVS’s skate team in Carlsbad CA. This year the DVS team is defending their honor in the second year of Transworld’s Skate and Create contest. The other shoe teams this year are Circa, E’s and DC.
Lenka “Trouble is a Friend”
Today Josh Forbes and I returned to the same green screen stage we shot Sharam on. This time we shot Lenka’s new song “Trouble is a friend”.
Red Stripe
Isaac Rentz I started the day making a fake party for Red Stripe beer, after a few hours and the extras drinking too much beer it turned into a full blown real party, including couples dousing eachother with the beer. Yeah man.
